About the Abbots Langley Festival

The festival is held every two years and its purpose is to celebrate Abbots Langley. To provide a showcase for everything that goes on in the village, that the talented and enthusiastic residents engage in, and many things that you could join in with.

The Civil Parish of Abbots Langley, covers a large area and comprises some 7,000 households with around 20,000 residents, making it quite a large town by most standards, yet it retains its village characteristics and communal atmosphere. The Festival is here to bring those characteristics to the fore. In 2022 many village groups and societies were picking up the pieces from the effects of the pandemic, so it was encouraging that the programme showed an increase in events over the 2018 festival despite the four-year gap.

The festival originated over thirty years ago as a Festival of the Performing Arts (activities which are well represented in the parish) as a bi-annual event. It continued in that form until 2018, when the focus was altered to encompass all forms of community activity in which the residents engage.

So we hope that you will put your thinking caps on and come up with ideas for the 2024 festival, to share the activities of any club, group or society you are associated with. We would also welcome volunteers to join our small organising committee to help us in Celebrating Abbots Langley.
